Trail Features Ocean/Harbor Views, Picnic Tables

Badlands Park Trail:

Street parking on Isle Vista (no parking sunset to 7am) leads to a stair entrance with multiple picnic tables at the top. Turn left along the path and take the stairs down the to the sand stone rock formation with sweeping ocean view.

The eroded sandstone from rain fall has created a sandy path. Look for the sandstone formations along the trail hence the name as the area looks as if it is a piece of the Badlands National Park in South Dakota.

Continue to enter the Badlands Trail (on the left) from here which goes along the steep cliff in front of the houses with ocean views the entire time.

Look for Aliso Peak!

This trail will continue on and you will have to turn back out the way you entered. From the first steps into Badlands Park to the end of the trail is .8 mile.

  • Free street parking
  • Not stroller friendly
  • Not dog friendly
  • Becareful with children as the trail along the steep cliff
  • Watch for rattlesnakes near the rock formation
  • Picnic tables are by the entrance into the trail
  • No restrooms

Suggested hike with kids would be to walk to Badlands rock & enjoy the view and head back up and pass where you entered into the park an continue onto Seaview Trail (stroller friendly).
